CoreWeave’s other number#
Last week’s story was distress. CoreWeave’s 2031 bonds yielded almost 16% and its credit default swaps blew past 1,000 basis points. Melvin of Milk Road PRO says that’s the wrong number to stare at. It’s one bond. The rate CoreWeave pays across all its debt keeps falling.
The company’s own numbers back him up. Its weighted-average cost of debt went from 14.9% in 2023 to 12.2% in 2024, 9.0% in 2025 and 8.3% in the second quarter of 2026, per its September debt investor deck. Part of that is cheaper, contract-backed loans like its $8.5B DDTL 4.0 facility, which got an A- equivalent rating.

The other half of the chart is the catch. Debt went from $8.0B at the end of 2024 to $35.6B by June 30. A lower rate on a much bigger pile still means a bigger bill: interest expense on debt was $558M in Q2, up from $256M a year earlier, per the 10-Q. And a weighted average shows what CoreWeave already pays. The bond market shows what new money would cost today.
Melvin’s bigger point is about Nvidia. Microsoft, Amazon and Google all build their own AI chips. Neoclouds like CoreWeave run on Nvidia. So in his read, Jensen Huang needs them alive as a hedge. That fits Huang’s “no backstop needed” line from Stockholm last week, and Nvidia’s existing promise to buy CoreWeave’s unsold capacity through 2032.

Start a new thread#
Mike Taylor, head of evals at Every, keeps memory off in Claude and ChatGPT. He opens a fresh chat for every task, even on the same project five minutes later. His reason is context rot: the longer a thread runs, the more the model follows old instructions and builds on its own mistakes.
His examples are concrete. Ask ChatGPT to name a product like Steve Jobs would and 21% of names start with “i-”. Add a few “i-” examples and it’s 100%. Katie Parrott’s writing style guide grew from 759 to 3,855 words and her drafts got worse, one essay taking 127 drafts. The rebuilt guide runs 513 words. Microsoft and Salesforce researchers found that splitting one prompt into step-by-step messages made results 39% worse.
His fixes: put the whole brief in the first message. When the model gets something wrong, edit your earlier message instead of arguing with it. Before leaving a long thread, ask it what it wishes it had known at the start, and paste that into the next one.
Lighter’s unlock wall#
Martin Toman of Milk Road PRO likes Lighter more than Hyperliquid as a product. He still won’t buy the token. Half of LIT’s 1 billion supply belongs to the team (26%) and investors (24%). After a one-year lock, it vests over about three years starting around the turn of the year. Trackers disagree on the exact date: Dec 30 or Jan 28.
That’s about 13.5 million LIT a month, roughly $42M at Sunday’s price of $3.12. Toman’s own math says $50M a month against about $3M of buybacks. On-chain data comes in a bit lower on both: the fee buyback bought 2.33 million LIT for about $7.6M from July 17 to Oct 15, or roughly $2.5M a month. Either way, new supply outruns the buyback by more than ten to one. Lighter’s quarterly burns come from its unreleased reserve, so they don’t take coins off the market.

VanEck filed to withdraw its Lido staked ETH ETF on Oct 14, a year after first filing it. The filing gives one reason: it no longer plans to sell the shares. Helius CEO Mert Mumtaz joined the NEAR Foundation Council. And on Milk Road, Look Into Bitcoin’s Matt Crosby, who Milk Road says nailed the $64K bottom, argues Bitcoin tracking silver’s run from its 2022 low points to about $400K over roughly 2.3 years. He admits that’s a little optimistic.
